This pub was recommended and we were very grateful to find this pub open after a long walk and there was a good choice of meals on the menu.My husband had a burger with stilton which was very good quality meat and I had the fish and chips. Best chips ever - proper chips. The prices were very good for both the food and drinks. Very helpful and friendly staff who were happy to serve us although very near to closing time. Would definitely revisit if we are back in that area.less
Came in for lunch after a morning flying a Harris hawk. My partner and I both chose omelettes with ham, cheese and mushrooms, accompanied by a baked potato, salad and coleslaw, all of which were excellent. One of our companions had the pie, which he also pronounced to be delicious. Fish and chips were also first class. We managed to find room for puddings: Ginger sponge, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Cherry Pancake, with custard, cream or ice cream according to taste. Wow, lovely big portions and again much enjoyed. This is a great place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Particular thanks to Glen and helpers for a very warm welcome.less
Pulled pork nachos were excellent on a cold day in January. Excellent place to stop at on walk round Shotley. less
I read the reviews and was impressed but perhaps i chose the wrong meal, certainly only average. Good Ham, not so good Cheese and the salad best described as "chunky" accompanied by the customary 2 large semi picked Onions (Suffolk seems to be awash with them!!!), plus a slice of bread & butter. Wife fared better with the Suit Pudding but sorry overall not impressed. Regret neither was the landlord with my comments..less
Called in on the off chance. Very friendly staff, fresh fish ( rock eel) and two venison burgers. Delicious! Real ale on tap + full choice of drinks. Well worth a stop. 3 adult meals, 2 rounds of drinks + coffee £75.less
